Are you still having trouble choosing a niche to target?

When you first start every guru/marketer/mentor asks about your passions, what are you interested in. The reason they do this is simply to see if you have an interest in topic or niche that you could start to make money from, you can monetize most interests & hobbies but some are obviously easier than others to make money from.

It’s generally considered that if we find what we do (or work on) interesting, we don’t really consider it to be ‘work’. (Plus we all know that work is just an interruption of the stuff we really want to do  ) So if we can combine something we’re interested in with our marketing efforts we are more likely to succeed.

That said, you’d think that picking a niche/topic would be easy, then why does it seem so hard? This is something I struggled with for absolutely ages, I went through my interests, thought of simple things that I’d achieved and also about the things that my friends and other people ask me about. This was a bit of a light bulb moment (might sound like a cliché), and a key factor to why I picked the niches I first went into.

Think about the questions and advice that your friends ask you, do they ask you about which computer they should buy, or what car is the most reliable or fastest. Do they ask what the best exercises are to bulk up their arm muscles, or, what wine they should be drinking with fish?  Do they tell other people to ask you, because they consider you’re the “Go to Guy (or Girl)” for that particular subject and you’ll probably know the answer, even if you don’t you’ll know how and where to find the answer -.

Basically that’s all IM is, substitute internet for information and you’ll find all successful internet marketers are in fact “Information Marketers” showing, telling and advising people how and what to do.

So if you feel that you’ll never know enough about internet marketing, forget that title and become an Information Marketer, do what you do for your friends, but on a global scale.

If you don’t like the technical side of internet marketing, (setting up websites, auto responders, download pages etc) don’t worry about it. This is just the mechanics side of IM and can be easily set up by outsourcing the work for a few dollars.  No problem, and you know, that if you do have any problems you can always ask me  – catch you soon
